Centre-of-gravity releases G 88 series The Europa G 88 safety release is installed at the centre of gravity of gliders and motor gliders. The release is approved by the German aviation authority (LBA) funder TCDS 60.230/2 to the airworthiness regulations for tow releases: for cable loads up to 14.1 kN, maximum all-up weight of 850 kg, with automatic release at a cable angle of 83°±7°, maximum manual release force is 140 N. The release also conforms to JAR 22 regulations.
G 88 with release lever 028000 Standard version with 4-position release lever. Mass: 720 g.
G 88 without release lever 028200 Allows a release lever to be fitted by the aircraft manufacturer, or the release cable can be attached directly to one of the segment holes. Mass: 670 g.
G 88/1-83 028400/028450/028500 To allow for the cramped conditions in some glider cabins we offer the following option: the segment is shortened by three holes and the segment bolt is extended for fitting a special release lever at the side of the release body. Lever left 028400/028450, lever right 028500, Mass: 670 g.
S 72/SH 72/Piccolo release series The S 72 and SH 72 tow releases are for light-weight gliders and motor gliders with a simpler design (without movable ring mechanism). LFK requires aircraft-sided cable deflectors to ensure release even for extreme lateral cable angles. Approved by LBA TCDS 60.230/3 for a maximum aircraft all-up weight of 500 kg. Refer to the LBA before using this release for new aircraft designs.
S72 022100 Without release lever, for attaching the release cable directly to one of the segment holes. Mass: 620 g.
SH 72 022200/022210 For space reasons, the segment is shortened by three holes and the segment bolt is extended for fitting an external release lever Lever left 022200, lever right 022100. Mass: 585 g.
Piccolo 022300 Safety release specially designed for winch launching of light gliders up to an all-up weight of 200 kg. The features are the same as for S 72. Mass: 260 g.
Maintenance intervals for all Tost releases Releases must have a type certification. Their safety and operating life can be guaranteed only by observing the prescribed maintenance intervals. They must be returned to the manufacturer for complete reconditioning after 2000 starts or 10000 release operations.
We recommend a general overhaul after 4 years. Due to enviromental influence releases can corrode or become stiff and thus fail during operation.
